Road Safety Concern Uganda is dedicated to increasing helmet use across the country through education, advocacy, and partnerships with law enforcement and community organizations.
Awareness Campaigns
We run extensive awareness campaigns to educate both riders and passengers about the life-saving benefits of wearing helmets. These campaigns include roadshows, media outreach, and community workshops, where we emphasize that helmets should be worn every time, without exception.
Collaboration with Law Enforcement
We work closely with the Uganda Traffic Police to ensure that existing helmet laws are strictly enforced. This includes regular road checks and penalties for riders and passengers who do not wear helmets. By reinforcing the legal requirement, we aim to make helmet use a consistent habit.
Community Engagement
Recognizing that cultural perceptions and economic factors can hinder helmet use, we engage with local communities to address these barriers. We provide affordable, high-quality helmets and educate people on their proper use. Our initiatives also focus on dispelling myths, such as the belief that helmets are uncomfortable or unnecessary for short trips.
